Wonder if all lug nuts for 12"-20 studs are 60 degree cone angle? Pulled my wheels and the nuts came off very hard. They were 3/4 hex nuts and the cone was deformed from many years (20+) of on/off and the coning was somewhat dished. Not sure what the cone angle ever was; it surely isn't 60 degrees now. (Hub is 5 bolt, 1/2"-20 studs, wheels are 14", tires are ST205/75R14).

I bought new lug nuts that are 13/16 hex, same thread, and they don't have the same physical appearance when installed. Looks like "coning" doesn't match. Maybe my wheels changed along with the lug nut deformation. Torqued new nuts to 90# (per spec), hope all is well.

Re: Lug Nuts

All the ones I've sold are 60 degree coned. Capped nuts usually have a wider cone, a little over 7/8" versus the 13/16" width of uncapped nuts. Good for marine use, too, because salt water isn't sitting on that exposed thread. If your new lugs are sitting a little too far into your wheels for your tastes, try capped nuts. You see them on most aluminum wheels.
