Will be looking at a 1977 Lund S-14 basic model. No upgrades or assessories. Use will be largely for fishing. User comments on this boat? What is decent price to pay for boat without a trailer if in good condtion? Thanks.

Good boat. You'll like it. As for price, that depends on where you are and the condition of the boat. 14-foot Lunds with no trailer seem to go for from $300-400 in my area, if they don't have any upgrades and are watertight. If they're a bit beat up or have ugly paint, a little less. Yours is 32 years old. That's no problem...they're well-made boats.

This guy is asking $680 for it. He states that it is in very good condtion and he just redid the seats. I told him that it was high. Perhaps I should just pass on it.

That is pretty steep for a boat that old and basic. I love Lunds but if there's no trailer or motor with it that just seems real high. In my area, a boat like that would probably go for around $350+/-. Seats that are redone are nice but after 32 years, I'd expect them to be redone once or twice already. You also have to figure, what is special about the seats? Even if he used marine grade plywood, he isn't into them more than about $75.

Re: Lund S-14

Seems quite high to me. Lots of folks ask too much for their boats this time of year, thinking someone who is desperate for a boat will buy it. Trouble is, there are lots and lots of boats for sale right now, so overpriced boats don't sell.

The local Craig's List here in the Twin Cities has a bunch of small aluminum boats without trailers that keep getting relisted week after week. They aren't selling. The ones that have the right prices on them sell right away.

I'd keep looking if I were you.
