Lund S-18 Utility Boat - Deck Modifications

I just started adding an aluminum diamond plate front/rear deck for my Lund (slapped it right on top of my bench seats with a gap at the drivers bench). It looks great and is very sturdy and convenient for stand-up fishing, but the dimensions are not wide enough to reach the sides of the boat. I plan on adding movable/removable seat bases for 4 possible positions at the back end and perhaps 2 in front. I will post pictures later in the week, but I am looking for suggestions on how to finish the sides. Thought you old salties would have some suggestions on how to maximize the usablity of my decks. I would like to create some storage/live well area either in front or back (or both) below the decks, but don't know how to start. Any help would be much appreciated.

Thanks,

Re: Lund S-18 Utility Boat - Deck Modifications

Here are some pics of this weekends' labors. Note the gaps in either side of the diamond plate. I found some really stiff marine grade (read olympic swimming pool runners made of fiberglass-reinforced 3/16" pvc) matting and was thinking of using that to fill in the deck gaps.

Any help on how to cut out the storage lids on the diamond plate?

I know this is unconventional deck design, but it's what I got...

Thanks,
