Does anybody have any information in Lund Shell Lake boats? I have a fiberglass Lund that was manufactured for Lund by the Shell Lake Boat Company of Shell Lake, WI. I believe it is a model 314. The boat is 14 feet long, is rated for 3 people, 20hp max tiller, beam is around 50" and freeboard is around 18". It is a tri-hull type front.
I plan to paint it red over white, add a couple of fishing seats, and a casting platform up front. I have an 18hp outboard for it. Any reason that an automotive paint can't be used? Duplicolor has a system that includes the primer, paint, and clearcoat with no mixing or thinning. It is a lacquer system and can be recoated anytime. From what I understand about gelcoat is that it is used because it is also a fiberglass release agent so it saves time in the building process.
