Looking for a machine shop in Central Arkansas. My 1992 Johnson 115 ate a piston this past weekend, so I will need some machine work to get it back on the water.

Anyone know of one?

Also, what is the difference between resleeving a cylinder and boring a cylinder out? I know the end result of either should be a functional cylinder, but what is the difference in the two.

And I will throw this out for the board - Anyone have a used 1192-1998 crossflow bubble back exhaust motor laying around collecting dust? I have all the electronics, carbs, linkages, flywheel. But I need the meat of the motor - block, crank, bearing, pistons, ...

Looking for some relief, this money pit is getting deep!

Re: Machine Shop in Central Arkansas

resleeving is replacing the steel insert,or the cyl.this is done if the specs.are to far out, like if eng had been overbored which is just boring your present cyl to another size higher,if it cant be done a resleeve is necessary,or the ports inside could be cracked,or got so beat up when eng blew, required a new cyl wall, they are expensive, like 250 bucks at least,a boring about 60,as for your question about used (shortblocks, everthing but the carbs ,electric etc)surely a rebuilder will have some laying around, but can you trust it?if a guy had a good running powerhead,it would likly be on a boat, and I dont want to sound like a wise a**but if there are any used ones around in the condition you want,it likely needs rebuilding too,at least soon,or it wouldnt be parted out.I know of a guy in Key Largo Fl.that is kinda like a salvage yard ,rebuilder etc.
