That bridge being gone would have very little, if any economic impact. Emotional impact would rate about a five on a scale of 1 to 100.

99.0% of the American public doesn't even know it exists. Another 80% doesn't know there is an Upper Michigan and 70% doesn't know there is a Michigan at all.

DJ...

you may have a point regarding geograpphy. But as for impact. You may not be aware of a charity walk that happens every Labor Day weekend. There will be over 50,000 people on that bridge. An attack that weekend on that bridge could have a death toll 10 times that of the WTC.

So, how would that be for effects??

Sure, DJ, I'd be glad to check it out!

Anyway, I hope they have more on those guys than simply having too many legally purchased cell phones, and photos of the Big Mac.

Every tourist trap in Northern Michigan have tons of Postcards of the thing, and there is even a rest stop on the north end where amateur photographers can take their own.

Heck, I even have a replica of the thing on my my license plate. Hmmm... I also have a cell phone. Hmmm....I may well be a risk!

And DJ, I have no idea how many know of the UP of Michigan, but the fewer the better as far as I'm concerned

As far as the midwest being a target, Indiana had the most terror targets listed than any other state according to Homeland Security. Included in Indiana was a roller rink and a petting zoo, among others

Where did you find this stuff?

It was a joke on the News about how states fill out there forms to get Homeland funds :)

Some states just threw everything on the wall to see what would stick

Hmmmmm. Profiling gone amock.

News is saying this AM that the only thing they have on those guys is being middle eastern and taking a tourist photo. Neither is illegal, nor is speculating in prepaid cellphones.

No charges to be filed.

Say! Why not do what FDR did to people of Japanese descent in 1942? Send them all to detainment camps, confiscate all their property and keep them there until the war on terror is over?

That might be just a bit less embarrassing.

NO, NO, NO!! That is not a serious comment! Consider it satire.

Profiling gone amock is too mild a discription for some of the anti-semitic remarks, inuendos and false information posted on this board recently.
