1996 Johnson 60hp I accidentally shorted the bottom screw on the terminal block mounted to the block [ 2 red wires]. Now it won't start, any ideas where to begin? I can't believe I didn't disconnect the battery, I hope it isn't an expensive lesson!

Does it turn over and not start or just not starthe?

If it cranks then it's time to check k for spark.

Hard to believe you shorted the red wires to ground without blowing the fuse. Are you sure? Only other thing I can think of is perhaps it burned the wire in two instead of blowing the fuse. But that's what the fuse is there to protect from.

Without looking up a 1996 Johnson 60hp it seems to me the fuse doesn't protect that part of the circuit?
Test for power on the battery side of the starter motor solenoid.
