Magic live well pump

When I got back to the landing the other day to load the boat I heard the livewell pump filling up my bow livewell. I looked and the light on the switch was illuminated but the switch was in the off position. I moved the switch to "MANUAL" and "AUTO" but the pump kept running. Yesterday I pulled all the wires from the back of the switch and the pump still runs when the master electronics switch is turned on. Uh....anybody have any idea why this pump is still running?

Re: Magic live well pump

If you disconnect the wires from the pump itself and it keeps running... it really would be magic!

I found that on my boat I had a switch for the livewell on my console, but on or off it also kept running...after some searching and wire tracing I found that the Previous Owner had wired in a SECOND switch to the 'aux' button on the bow...not a 3 way setup, just a second switch. In order for pump to be off BOTH switches had to be off.

I have since removed the second switch, but maybe you have a similar situation?

Re: Magic live well pump

mbhoag- not that you mention it, there is a second switch for the bow well on the bow panel. I never use it but I suppose I bumped it when lifting my trolling motor. I never use it so I never thought to check it out. It is a better explanation than magic but magic sounds better and doesn't make me look like such a big moron. Thanks again.
