Guys,
Yesterdays temps in Florida were warm enough to take the new Starcraft out for its maiden voyage.
The 4.3 MPI in this 18 footer is fantastic. Holeshot is awesome, bow rise is minimal and the torque is fantastic. Cruising along at say 35 MPH is effortless. This is in stark contrast to the Seadoo boats Ive owned which always felt like they were screaming along. The Starcraft feels like its quiet, composed, refined and relaxed. never before on a Seadoo could I hold a normal conversation at cruise speeds. We always had to shout to communicate. Not so on the Starcraft. We can actually listen to music and hold a conversation.
The prop is not perfectly suited for the boat. While it provides an amazing hole-shot, the engine will over rev above 50MPH(per GPS). I will test a slew of SS props this spring and use this aluminum one as a spare. I suspect with the correct prop this boat will approach 60MPH.....I'm soooo happy to be back to stern drives.
