I made an error ordering some Brightside paint from a big company and got some white primer, not white paint. What I learned is that it is impossible to send it back. Special contracts exist between the retailer and the shipper for the ground transport of the paint outbound. It requires a ton of paperwork and knowledge of flashpoints, and assuming liability, and signing your name to even think of sending it back. Mailboxes Inc. sent me to UPS. Then to the original shipper FedEx and two calls to the hazardous materials group at FedEx. It took three calls to the big company before I found someone who understood this. Her comment was "If it is their mistake, they just ship the right stuff and take a write off as it is indeed impossible for the customer to ship back." I was very lucky to find they purchased another company which had a store in my locale and additionally because it was Interlux that the retail outlet would take it and keep it on their shelf and they would happily credit me.
So I guess I'm just trying to say, be extra careful.
Mike
