Re: main engine fuse keeps blowing

Hello cio....

When a fuse blows, it means it's drawing more amps than when it's rated for. So....when you try to start the engine, the fuse blows. Now we look at what's happening when you start.

When you start, you go to "ON" and then push the key in for "CHOKE". Does it happen then...or...you to to "START" and the engine cranks. When you go to "START", the only thing on the engine that should be drawing amps is the starter solenoid. The coil in the solenoid picks up closing the cup across the two large posts in the solenoid to put 12V's to the starter.

Now...you could have a short somewhere in the feed to the solenoid that makes it pick up....yellow/w red stripe wire. Have you checked all connections and made sure they are clean and making good contact? A dirty contact can cause a high amp flow. Check the small post's on the solenoid. Make sure they are clean...also on the ignition switch.

Have you changed anything lately on the engine?

Check not only the connections but the wire itself. They may look great on the outside but be little more than green soup inside.
