hello
on the port side just above the impeller bubble is a grease fitting. the other fitting is a vent. you grease the bearings every 10 hours or so look in the owners manual. the color of the grease that is expelled tells you when the seals are leaking. its imperitive to keep a check on impeller to wear ring clearences. and it has a rubber vaned water pump for engine cooling just like an outboard. run it dry without the flush attachment and it dies.
this jet does not like slow speed shallow water operation. at idle speeds you must maintain 2ft of water between the intake grill and the bottom or the tops of the weed beds. stay away from milfoil. stay way away from milfoil. make sure you know how to remove the grate to clear the impeller. and carry the tools to do it. good luck and keep posting

Re: maintance on a 90hp merc with jet drive

I have a friend that had the Reflex (Sister to the Jazz with a closed bow). I can't remember how many times I towed him back to the dock to get something out of his jet. One time it was a little stick that make it through the grate and the impeller cut 1/2 way through, but didn't break it. Another time he picked up a small rock that lodged it's self between 2 of the blades and that little rock really shook the back end of his little boat bad at 10MPH. At that time we were at the end of an arm and in mid thigh deep water, I walked my outboard to deeper water, he just jumped in and fired it up and that's when he sucked up that rock. He caried a long screwdriver and one of those things that when you push one end, little claws come out the other and grab. Best tools to have for a Jet Boat. Good luck and have fun with it.

Craig
