Make and Model?

How do I tell what year a johnson outboard motor is and what is it really worth for resale? Can I tell by the vin numbers?

Take the vin # and type to the local marina and ask them to look it up for ya. thats how I found out what year and make my 69 Evinrude was. They can probably tell ya how much it is worth! "A ballpark # of course"<br />GoodLuck

It's a 1990. OMC uses the word "introduces" for the year. i=1, n=2, t=3 and so on. Disregard the last letter. Thats a production change code.
