Make me a DIY Wakeboard Pylon

Finally made a Wakeboard pylon, here's how I did it if anyones interested. sorry about the pics, there from my cell phone. If you got any questions holler!

- The post is a floor post jack $25 on craigslist
- 2" trailor ball welded to the top $8
- base is 2x6x18 carpet wrapped wood. free
- Jack came with the metal base plate.
- 26' of 3/16" nylon wrapped cable $15
- fittings, locks, guides, and hooks ~$20

If I could suggest...I would add one more eye hook about halfway down so you can use this for pulling a tube also. I did one before using the floor jack. I switched to a galvanized pole instead. But your set up is nice-clean.

Thanks guys, the hardest part was getting the rear cables the right length. I think I'm going to go ahead and put another lock on the end of each cable just incase the ones I have on there fail.

Speaking of, "never saddle a dead horse"

I think (its hard to see in the picture) that you have the saddle on the cable clamp on the dead side of the line. (on the rear cables anyway) It always goes on the side holding the tension and the u shaped piece will clamp the tail/excess. If you do take them apart again you could add a piece of heat shrink tubing to cover the loose ends and hardware....

Looks nice though, had a similar set up on my 78 marlin outboard.

Whatever you do, please DO NOT add an eye half way down as a previous post suggested. Your set up can only support a tension applied to the top of the post.
