Re: making a better wake.

my borther bought a Mastercraft xstar and his wake is amazing but we also add about 2000 lbs of water in it between the factory ballasts and our launch bags to get it even better haha were nuts, as well we run 70 ft rope length and just absolutly tear it up, I wouldn't ride behind anything else bc it just can't compete with a true wakeboat.

Typical Mastercrap snob response! Mo betta would be - well some of us have to ride on other boats - QC Edit

Hell I will ride behind a Pontoon Boat if that all I have. Maybe can toss any air tricks, but I can board slide, ollie, and carve around all day long working on switch riding and edge drills.

I saw an interesting technique this season, in fact I was amazed, this guy was like surfing right behind the transom, I watched him start off with the rope, then appeared to have released the rope and was actually surfing the wake, I thought this guy may be crazy but he's pretty good at it.

yea that is called wake surfing its fun to do once you get the hang of it, and about your pontoon comment thats the best thing you can do is ride at a slow speed little wake and practise until you get it down just right it will benefit you in the end for sure

I've said it before and I'll say it again. You don't need a big wake to do big jumps. You need to learn how to jump. This is a 3.0L powered 19 ft bayliner going about 16-18 mph.

Well until someone buys me a true wakeboard boat or I get a killer raise and can afford a payment on a minimum of a $25,000 boat?I?ll stick with riding behind my Bayliner.

Also, another tip that I discovered this year. I put our GPS unit on the windshield and select ?view map?. It tells you exactly how fast you are going since boat speedometer?s are off and the slower you go the harder it is to see the numbers it works pretty good. My wife usually pulls me around and she prefers basing the speed off of the GPS.

I usually get a kick in the face every weekend. There is a MasterCraft direct drive on our lake that has a tower and judging the size of the wake it has a ton of ballast. All they do with it is pull tubes! Why spend the money? Must be an inadequacy thing??

i dont see the need for a mastercraft. my 18 ft glasstron with a tower gets the job done with no problem. i agree with learning on a small wake. i can hit flats off maybe a 2 ft wave. i just wanna make the wave bigger so i can try bigger tricks.

Well said! This is behind my 20ft bayliner and off the ski loop. No tower (yet)

agreed, our place is full of bad *** wakeboats and ski boats sitting in a slip or pulling tooobs. one air nautique in particular hasn't budged all season. maybe they'll want to trade???

Re: making a better wake.

We use 600 pounds of ballast in the bow and trim up to sqaut the back of the boat in the water. Nice crisp wake at 22 mph. Does feal a little strange when making sharp turns like the boat wants to wash out but you'll get the feal for it.

Spammer ^^^ thanks.

Edit: Anyone who sees duplicate posts like that, but from a different user, please hit the "Report Post" red triangle icon in the upper right corner of each post. This is a Spammer technique that is popping up over the last few days. They copy a post, re-post it, and then come back later and add the Spam link. Fairly stealthy and need your help.

Re: making a better wake.

hi guys,
im new to this whole thing just have a question on how to make my boat throw a better wake. i know adding weight, and getting trim tabs help but i need to know what works the best and wont kill my boat on take off. i have a 4 banger 3.0L so i dont have alot of take off but it gets the job done. i have a tower on the boat (Glastron) and that helped but i just want it to be nice and crisp. any suggestions?

I'm not sure what you mean by making a better wake. Whatever it is it is. Change the prop. Go down in pitch 2" and you'll be happy.

Re: making a better wake.

If you need more ballast, you could always put the plug in, after the boat is in the water. :p

Also regarding people that buy expensive boats. When you make a lot of money, sometimes I guess it is easier to buy something expensive, than spend a lot of researching.

Also I am guessing some boats on show room floors come from the factory with certain options. Some people want to buy the boat and put it in the water and not wait a couple of months for the boat to be built at the factory with the options they want.

I dont think you have to drive your ferrari every day, just because you own one. Nothing wrong with owning nice things, and perhaps they are busy WORKING so they can afford to have them... I find it hard enough to get up to the lake a couple times a season because life keeps me busy
