got a quick question.
benk sent me those spec sheets for my omc 200 1979
i did get a manual online type e book thing, its the same as the paper one they sell.
i know the fireing order on the block it's a matter of is it wired correctly and what is number one plug spot on dist in ref going clockwise from hold down.
it will run now with new to me used carb from ebay but still hard to start.didnt know if this thing has jumped time or just wired wrong. where it comes up on dist with compression tdc in num one plug hole is correct as far as i can tell if its wired correct right now...plan to swap out points as well as coil as soon as i get my points question answered
anyway what i need to know..on my boat its a points system with a mallory distributor and like they do in haynes and chiltons manuals they the manual i have ( soltec man omc 64-86)do not show a diagram on the actual distributor (and num one is not stamped on old or new cap) where num one is in ref from hold down tab the way the boat is currently wired is second plug spot going clockwise is number one do you know is this correct? second question if i wanna swap out the points do i need to take out the distributor? can i just bump it to a high spot on the dist lobe when points are open and swap them out like that and gap them per spec's? ive never delt with points .dont have a timing light or dwell meter
thanks in advance and not being impatient ben i just wanted to get it out in case you didnt know for sure
