So I went to the local lake to catch a few salmon. Undid the transom straps and put on the swim platform, Undid the strap around the kicker and put on the swim platform. Put plug in. Ran under power 39mph GPS to fishing spot, fired up kicker, started setting riggers, leaned over the back of the boat to set line in release - what the heck are my transom straps doing on the swim platform? Don't ask me why they stayed there - by all rights I should have been looking for rope for the ride home.

Things happen, today I got to the ramp which is 14 miles from home and one my transom straps were missing, got home with one just fine.

Later my wife found it on a street in my neighborhood and it was trashed, had been run over a bunch.

10 or so years ago the wife and I were coming in from a day on Lake Ontario. We always had a habit of unloading the boat in the parking lot so we could just back the boat into the garage and leave it there when we got home. We left our very new Canon SLR 35mm in it's case on the swim platform and drove home. We looked for it in the vehicle and couldn't find it so I went to the garage to see if we left it on the boat. There it was right on the swim platform right where we'd left it. We lived 15 miles from the boat launch and couldn't believe it stayed on the swim platform all of the way home.

I drove for over 100 miles with my broken down fly fishing rod in the top of my blazer. It got stuck in the back of the luggage rack. I keep hearing this weird noise but it was late and did not stopped to look until I was in my garage...

Rod Saver Retractable Transom Tie-Downs

I have looked at those online, I just wonder if they will hold up in salt water.
