Re: Manatee Rebuild 1976

Progress slows down when she is now able to be taken out and enjoyed. This weekend I can say she is complete as I installed the swim platform back on the transom. Does anyone eles have trouble drilling into a new transom or is it just me? Here are some pictures my son took.

Wow, she's absolutely gorgeous. Nice job. And yes, it would kill me to drill into the transom. I installed a CMC power trim unit and almost cried everytime I drilled a hole. Use 5200 on the bolt holes. Good Luck and have fun.

Wait till you get your finished it is so awsome all the compliaments you get out on the water. I have had so many people stop and ask me what kind of boat is that? You would think it was a classic boat not some old crap you fixed up that rolled down a hill and into a car. LOL

Damifudo,
It's great to see everyone enjoying the boat, after all the hard work you put into it.
Now, Let the Fun Begin.
She sure looks great.
Nice work.
Take Care

Re: Manatee Rebuild 1976

Well I have come up with two names for the boat. I would like some input...

1. Lazarus. The name of the person Jesus brought back from Death. I think that is appropriate in this case.

2. Miss Mimonie. Who doesnt when doing a restore project.

I'm kinda partial to "Miss Mimonie" you should look in the boat name thread in the DC zone maybe it can give you some ideas , variations on names etc...

You could always call it "The Resurrection" and put that little tic mark to make it sound French LOL

I think a name that somehow references the car accident would be kinda funny.

Re: Manatee Rebuild 1976

I had to return to this thread. (my umteenth time). I get so much inspiration... I need to get things (projects) done at home so I can start my restore. Maybe I'll start in the garage (making room for my project)! Wife wants me to finish the laundry room though :-(

Great project! I'll try to document mine at least as good as you have so others can be inspired.

Everyone else... I have a special favoriites place set up for all the helpful links.

Spring is coming!

You will be very happy when you done with your Manatee. Its a great bay boat. I have been out in mine in good 3 foot seas and it handled it very well. Is your manatee a V hull? Takes some pictures of it and let others here help you get inspired is is amazing how much help people off on this board.

Good luck I cant wait to see it. I have not put mine away yet for the season. She sleeps in the garage till I get free time and then we are off fishing again.

Re: Manatee Rebuild 1976

OK. Here are the before's, as she is today.

I have had this since last march. All good intentions went by the way side... Lots of good projects at home, camping, and using the running boat. I'll start a new thread once I begin in a few weeks. One more really big project at home and the holidays... I've already started a material list!
