i think that it is important for those who have questions with their boats that could be weather specific or altitude specific when it comes to running their boat in places like colorado or else where putting your location could really help someone trying to help you out

Re: Manditory State Location for Forum Members

Lets say you post up about a vacation you are going on and someone trolling the forums for local members and checks all your posts and finds a picture of your boat(prob with hull id). He/she recognizes a landmark and identifies exactly where your boat/house is. It sounds extreme but some people guard there online privacy. People on forums tend to be very comfortable and it feels like a community but keep in mind this is public domain.

Back on topic who the heck cares it takes one reply to ask them where they are from if they didn't mention it in the post or you can just move on to the next topic.

I think it should be mandatory that you can't ask stupid questions or give stupid answers. :)

I actually like the requirement for spellcheck.

I had a close brush with identity theft recently. Some one took my son's id and opened some accounts and did some transactions. My son is now off the hook, and the credit card companies that issued cards under fraudulent pretext had to eat the expense. I think they should have to appologize to the victim for their shoddy verification practice.

Anyway, I live in the third hay pile from the left in North NJ where the cows ans horses roam.

There's cows and horses in NORTH Jersey?

That said, I put my place on there as it doesn't matter. I figure everyone knows who and where I am. This is why I laugh when people mention privacy yet are online all day.:p

I've had problems with ID theft as well. Three times no less.:( The fake accounts and charges were not only "taken care of" by the companies that allowed them, but turned them into the state for fraud as well. :D

Yep, and you know what's funny? They guy who has announced the Kentucky Derby for many years just lives about 15 minutes away from me here in NJ. I know because my son dated his daughter for about 2 years. Nice folks.

About 6 years ago I had to go out into my back yard and grab a cow by the ear and lead her back to her own home, stupid animal got out from the farm across the street and was just roaming the neighborhood eating what ever she liked.

It would seem that having them attest to owning a factory manual for the model engine there inquiring about would be more effective for tayloring answers than having their location.

This went nowhere and is still on the way nowhere else.

Rudeness and stupidity killed it.
