Manifold and riser/elbow question for V6 Tahoe Q4

Hi,

Can anyone with a Tahoe Q4 that has the Mercruiser V6 let me know if there are spacers between the exhaust manifold and elbows? If so what size are they?

My boat currently has aftermarket SS manifolds and I'm looking to replace with OEM.

It's a 19'6 Tahoe Q4 built in 2008.

That doesn't tell me if there are spacers required though? I've had two dealers come back to me to say the serial number doesn't provide that information.

Edit: I did try this on the Mercury online one, it just lists all the spacers available.

I would measure the static water line & use Mercs 14” above the static water line spec to figure that out. That’s the right way to do it.

The problem with that is it means taking the boat to the water and back again. I was hoping someone with a Tahoe Q4 could let me know what is on theirs.

Every boat is different. You need to measure YOUR boat and determine if YOUR boat needs exhaust risers.

call tahoe boats and ask if you cant take it back to the water. Also may be in the parts manual for the boat. I found on my sea ray it was listed in the part manual that the V6 engines didnt have risers and the V8 engines did, but ...it does specify what height risers.

Do you still have the original down turn elbows that connect to the wye pipe? They come in two lengths if they are the standard short one you dont have a riser.

I measured this when I changed my OMC 4.3 from the old one piece bat wings to the later OMC/Volvo 2 piece style, I got 16” which was good, but if they were too low I’d have to have used the taller Volvo elbows.

Just in case anyone stumbles across this thread looking for an answer, this model Tahoe Q4 uses the 14 degree elbows with no spacers.

It's not the boat that uses them, it's the engine. If you look at an earlier model of the same boat, it would use 7° elbows, because that's what the earlier Mercruiser engines came with. And you can't just take an engine with 7° elbows and just put 14° elbows on it (not without other changes to the exhaust system)... As far as the engine goes, the only thing the boat dictates is whether there needs to be risers installed, by virtue of how deep in the hull the engine sits.

Thanks Chris, I just meant that the 2008 Tahoe Q4 (as per original post) with this engine uses this setup. I appreciate there will be different configurations for older/newer boats and if my boat was a custom once off type thing or didn't have the original engine then I would have gone with the measurement method you posted above.
