Hello, I have a 5.7 GM vortec motor attached to a volvo 290 outdrive. I had replaced the starboard side manifold and riser because it was allowing water into the motor. I had both sides presure tested and the port side passed so I kept it and reinstalled it. 14 hours later it is (port side) leaking so I am now installing new manifold and riser on that side. I have fresh water to motor with a heat exchanger. In removing the riser there is a metal spacer that blocks all water from the sides. Then the gasket goes on the manifold. Is this the way it should be set up. I have a raw water that goes to the riser and must exit through the exhaust Then I have a raw water that enters the manifold and a fresh water that enters the manifold on the other end. I know if I order a gasket they ask if it is fresh or raw water cooled. The gasket seem to block off different ports if that is the case. Am I correct?
