Hi, i have a 1987 18ft boat with a omc 4.3v6 engine, it been run in fresh water all its life & very well maintaned.. how long do the manifolds last.:confused:

manifolds and risers last 3 to 5 years in salt.
in fresh its a toss up. You can say double salt time, but some water is very brackish or exxcesivly acidic or basic.
If they are the originals, they should be pulled and inspected.

You can pull just the risers and tell what is going on. My bet is that they will look just fine if all you have put it in is fresh water.

Ayuh,........

Up here on the Sweetwater Seas,.... They'll last Forever,... Or until they're Frozen......

If your motor is of the vintage that has the so called "Batwing" manifolds,..??
I hear they are NLA.........
That means some sort of "Conversion" if they Did go Bad.....

Hopefully,... The water You boat in, is as Sweet as the water I do....
