First thanks to all you folks for an excellent forum. I've learned very much over the last month since I got my new boat.
I had the dealer do the winterizing this year but would like to understand the process for next year. Just some questions if you could chime in and help answer:
1. I've downloaded the manuals for the engine (#31) and sterndrive (#14). Are these the latest manuals and if not, would there be an appreciable difference in the 2008 manuals?
2. I've taken picture of the manifolds and I don't see any drain ports on the underside. Is draining the manifolds by unclamping the attached hose under the manifold the only way to do this?...and poking the cavity. I've ready folks don't trust the "one drain system" on this power package.
3. I see a brass nut on the block. Is this for draining the block. Could not see this in the 31 manual. Is there one on the other side...could not see it with any pictures I took.
4. The manual shows a check valve downstream of the powersteering cooler. I think I also see the cool fuel box in my boat. Can someone confirm with the engine stock code I have that these are indeed there.
5. From what I have read, filling the system with AF at the Thermostat hoses seems ok, but how will the AF get by the check valve? How do you ensure the powersteering cooler is drained?
6. Is the water going into the Power steering cooler coming from the stern drive water pump? Ref. p. 6b-8 in Manual 31
