Manual Motor Tilter ?

I have a 85hp Mercury and was wanting to know if anyone has ever built or used a manual motor tilter on there motors this big ????

If anyone has made there own would it be possible to get a picture ???

You can get a tiller kit for just about any size Merc, we commonly use them on 200hp Mercs here and a 300hp Yamaha is the biggest tiller motor I've seen.

Do you mean TILTer, as in a device to tilt the motor up out of the water or TILLer, as in the handle to steer the motor?

When I first bought my boat it had a manual tilter, rather treacherous device, almost pitched me in a couple times, I got between the handle and the back of the boat and once the motor starts going it is going.

Hooked onto the top of the motor cowl and had a long handle on it.

I will see if I still have it and get a pic up.

that is kind of a big motor and I am pretty sure the cowling or hood wasn't designed to take that kind of force.

Don't for the life of me know why I saved this but here it is.

The hook by the dead blow goes into the handle of the cowling and on the other end there are 2 screws that go thru the cowling.
