Will a 1970 Johnson 6hp factory service manual suffice for a 1968 evinrude 6hp fisherman? I think yes but want to make sure. The generic leaves alot to be desired. Thank you again folks

WIth aftermarket manuals, who knows. I would spend the money and get the factory, HP, year, and model specific shop manual and then you will have no issues. Those manufacturer's shop manuals cover everything in minute detail with lots of break downs and pictures. JMHO!

1968 and 1970 are very much alike, with minor differences. So if you can get the '70 manual at a good price, you might want to go for it.

I have a 1975 Fisherman and the 1975 Johnson manual was cheap and available, so I grabbed it and it is A-OK.

To verify the 1968 vs. 1970 compatibility, maybe go to shop2.evinrude.com and check parts list between the two years for a few major components are the same.
I do not think that there were any significant differences, but you should check.
