Hi All,

I'm trying to install the recoil on my outboard, its a 69 Chrysler 9.9hp. I'm having trouble getting tension from the spring to recoil the pull-cord. Anyone have any ideas how to properly do this.

Thanks,

Rod

Re: Manual Recoil

My after market manual indicates a special tool Chrysler number TR2985.Used through the top of the pinion assembly to relieve spring tension in order to dissassemble.Im not familiar with the Chrysler recoil but If there is room I would think that with the rope removed you could wind the spring and pulley up enough turns to wind the rope. This may take a little trial and error. You may need a clamp or screw driver to hold things while you attach the rope.
