Hi,

I need a spring for a manual pull start, the one with the bolt through the top. The sierra part is 18-6434 and costs about $20.

Are there any substitutes that will work cheaper? Seems to me like $5 or so is more like it.

Thanks.

At $68 for a tilt pin (which I need for my 76 15, the dealer has a used correct one for $30  for me) your getting a deal and no not really anything to sub. You could look for the whole assembly on fleabay but they are usually used. Just watch your eyes when you remove it, they are under load and pay attention to the direction of the sping and which way the rope comes out.

Welcome to the boating world. Remember BOAT = (B)reak (O)ut (A)nother (T)housand

The lawn mower springs I have seen are weaker, & thicker in height than these 9.9/15hp. There may be some that can be made to fit, BUT !!

those springs are special design, used are hard to find, because the end usually breaks. just put the right one in, and be done with it.

Those lawn boy and B&S springs looked about the same but I haven't seen one for awhile.

Sorry I got the order number wrong.

I remember when a flywheel key cost about .10, now they are $4. Now that's a ripoff.

You guys know what's going on, so I'll just get a new Sierra spring.

My interests are hunting, fishing, boating, and flying airplanes. All too expensive now.

Thanks.
