manual steering to power, easy exchange?

I have a 1986 manual steering transome housing and a extra 85 power steering housing on a project boat. I have not really looked at them both as they are in two seperate directions, but, is it as simple as taking the non ps cable off the housing, attaching the ps unit on and then reattching the cable or are they two totaly seperate inside housings?

You Should be in Fine shape with your Plan,.............
I'm Sure the Cables are the Same,.....
And,.. I believe the transom plate is also the Same........

You'll also need the engine driven Pump to power the system......
And of course the related Lines,+ Oil Cooler........
