manual tach hook up for testing

How can I attach a test tach to my engine at the engine. My manual only gives control box hookup. I'm trying to adjust my air/fuel adj screws

What kind of tach do you have?

An annalog 6/8 cyl. A bit old but still works. My boat tach is digital.

I have an older shop tach, as well. Works great on my 4 stroke of course. Me and a buddy tried using it on his Evinrude 90 and were unable to get a good reading or even find a spot to connect to. It's easier to get a timing light with a tach readout. Of course most of them are for 4 strokes so you would need to half the reading.
