My motor VJ50BELESR does not have power tilt, but does have the asisst cylinder. Can I use that to temporarily tilt the motor up for shallow water running at low speed? It wouldn't be tilted up enough to use the trailer lock of course, just the hydraulic lock on it.

I just bought the SELOC manual for my motor but it doesn't talk about non-power tnt at all.

Re: manual tilt assist cylinder

I have a 2001 johnson 50 with the same feature and I use it all the time for shallow water running...even to the point, I am sparyaing water up in the air

( make sure you still have water coming out of the tell tale to assure your pickup is getting colling water)

I really like that feature of the motor since it doesnt have power TNT.

there is an infinate number of settings...

and when i get to deeper water I just go back and throw the lever...the power of the motor puses it back down to the running postion and I am all set and if i hit soemthing the unit is free ..

of course as soon as i need reverse, I have to go back and lock the lever

good luck
