Earlier someone had said something about some manuals being great and others not very acurate, which were which, i have the grey and blue manuals that seem to be put out by volvo and have part numbers similar to suggestions Don S has made reference to that i think are acurate, my questoin is about a manual put out by Seloc for 92-95 Volvo Stern Drives. Should i stay away from the Selco or can i rely on it for the simple troubleshooting and maintance that i do?

ISBN 0-89330-041-1 Seloc Volvo-Penta Stern Drives, 1992-1995 Delmar

Re: Manuals

I wouldn't....They just leave too much out....It doen't hurt to look at it, if you already own it...However, I wouldn't run out & buy one ....JK

Re: Manuals

Being an experinced mechanic,..........
Don's Right.........
Any of the Aftermarket manuals are Outhouse material.......

A Factory Manual Just can't be beat for having All the info needed........ The Technician's Handbook is The edition to find........

All of the Aftermarket manuals are generally Vague,+ Sometimes down right Misleading.......
Seloc isn't the Worst of the bunch,.......

If your Desperate,..... It'll give you a Muddy Path,..... Rather than the Factory Manual's Yellow Brick Road...................... :D

Re: Manuals

I'm not a mechanic/techie...just your average bozo who likes to tinker with his boat. Had Seloc manual but upgraded to OMC shop manual. NO COMPARISON!!! Nothing beats the shop manual! Look on eBay or Google it.

Re: Manuals

When OMC and VOLVO got togeather,I found the manuals very good, before that VOLVO not so good, and used Clymers to help.

Seloc ... never had much use for one, never said I couldn't use it.

Beyond that OMC and MERC/MERCRUISER Manuals are great.(unless we go back to the MERC ones before 1978 or so ).

DHP
