Hello all,<br />I've made some progress and have removed the rotten transom. Now I see many holes (up to 30) in the aluminum hull. They appear to be drilled in a set pattern. What are all these used for or could they have been drilled in over the years? Should I fill them in? I assume that the 4 larger hole in the center are for mounting the motor, but the others......<br /><br />Many thanks,<br />Jim

Can you post some photos? In the meantime, you need to check out this product. It'll save you time and money.<br /><br /> http://www.newtechnologyproducts.net/index.htm <br /><br />"Your product has allowed us to repair skaggs and Cavitation plates, and has allowed us to quickly and easily repair cracks, holes, rivets, and seams on aluminum boats without having to send them out to be welded." <br />Jimmy Houston Marine - Rodgers, ARK

Re: Many, many holes in transom

Howdy Jim, I found the same thing when I did the transom on my sea-nymph, Was told it may have been the treated wood they used at the factory. I just cut another piece of aluminum and using 5200 and the bolts that already needed to penetrate the transom, attached it to the outside of the swiss chess my transom had become. Used a couple of pieces of cheap plywood epoxied together to replace the rotted junk I pulled out. That was a couple of years ago with no problems since. Hope this helps.

the ones(3 groups) that go about 1/2 the way up in Straight lines look to be for knee braces...4 in the middle are motor mounts, as far as the others... no clue... fill um up... unless your going to put braces back on it.
