Re: Marine Engine Warning Kits

I put that Cole Hersee kit on my engine... seems to work good but will face the true test if something goes wrong while on the water.

The kit comes with two alarm switches, but only one buzzer. You could do like it says and hook both switches into the one buzzer, but then you might not know which alarm is really going off unless your gauges are working properly. Instead, I went to the ratshack and got a little piezo buzzer. So one of the switches (the low oil pressure switch) is hooked into the buzzer that came with the kit, and the high temp switch is hooked to the piezo buzzer, so I'll know right away which alarm is going off. The radio shack buzzer has a much different (high then low) tone, so I can tell them apart.

And if your nifty with wiring, you can even wire in an LED light for each alarm and put it in ur dash, that way you get an audio AND visual alert when the alarm goes off. It's easy to do... Just something to think about...
