I used Marine Tex on a small scratch and it seemed to setup like rubber. Did I mix it incorrectly? I have some small holes in engine compartment and expected it to setup harder but a bubble appeared and it feels like rubber. Does it harden with age?

Re: Marine Tex

It should be completely cured in 24 hours. A thin patch takes longer to 'set' than a thick one - go figure. If you were in the ballpark range for mixing it will set up, just might take a little longer. If my brain cell is correct I believe it's a 5 : 1 ratio. :D

Bet you did not get the mix correct. I use popsicle sticks and eyeball the 5:1 mix. When mixed correctly and hardened that stuff is as hard as steel.

Re: Marine Tex

I bet I mixed wrong because the 1/2 inch hole that I covered has a bubble of marine tex the size of a marble, and it is very soft and I can push it down with my hand and it comes right back. Thanks.

It has to be 1 to 5.
It will set up hard in 5 hours.
