Question about marine vinyl flooring glue, what as everyone else used? On my last two carpet installs on bass boats I used contact cement and it worked great. The longer it is on the tougher it gets and it is waterproof, but I do not know if it will work with the vinyl. I have tried the trowel on adhesive on one other boat with carpet and the contact cement was much easier to work with.

Your thoughts?

Re: Marine Vinyl Glue?

On my last boat I used the proper vinyl glue but had trouble with it not curing on the non porus parts, sealed fiberglass, and aluminum, I also read that others had the same problem . On my current SS I used latex contact cement on the vinyl to wood areas and regular contact cement on the aluminum areas and it has worked great. The latex contact cement has almost no odour which is a bonus if you are working in a closed garage.

Re: Marine Vinyl Glue?

I'm going to use the Nautolex vinyl adhesive that came with my marine vinyl.

It says to put it on both surfaces and let the air bubbles go out before attaching.

We will see how that goes. It's all going to be adhered to either smooth epoxy or bare aluminum so I hope it holds.
