Howdy. Took my '89 Sea Ray out for the first time this season. I stopped in the middle of the lake to check the live well, etc. When I went to put the engine back in gear, the control lever jammed. Until then, the throttle and shifter had been working normally. After a few seconds fiddling with the control, the throttle locked wide open. I paddle back to shore. I have the manual for the Mariner 100 but it has nothing about the remote controls. Where should I begin? I haven't done anything yet except get the boat out of the water. Any suggestions or sources of info would be greatly appreciated.

This is a Morse control. The only markings in can find are INOOM under the Morse name.

Re: Mariner 100 Remote Control Jammed

First thing I'd try is to disconnect both cables at the motor and try the control again to see if it is the control or a cable sticking.

Often a worn cable digs/cuts/wears a groove inside the cable housing, sort of 'pinching' the cable when placed under load. Disconnected, the cable moves freely.

If the control moves freely with the cables disconnected, then connect only one cable and try it again, if a cable is bad your control will stiffen once the bad cable is reconnected.
