mariner 115,no reverse.

hi just wondering why i have no reverse on a mariner 115 engine,it wont engage at all,it runs fine in forward,but grinds going into reverse,is it the clutch dog?or some misalignment?is this a big problem to repair,im a newbie,thanks

Have you removed the lower unit ??

If so you have to drop it again and re-adjust the position of the shift shaft.
