I have a strange situation with my boat.....I was running it in the driveway the other day with a water hose and "muffs attached" it takes a couple of seconds for the water to come out of the spout...while waiting for the water to pump ...water will run out of each spark plug port....(not kidding)..this is weird...water will run out of the plugs but then quit running as soon as the water starts running out of the proper spout...anyone ever seen this? is this normal? what should i do?...the boat still works, i just dont think water should come out of the spark plug holes.....any help would be appreciated.....1996 Mariner 115 2 stroke outboard.......

Re: mariner 115

The water jacket cover gasket is leaking, some times they will dribble a little on spring start up or after the engine has overheated but if it continues the gasket should be changed.

Re: mariner 115

thats real common with mercs
& mariners when you take off the water jacket assembly make sure you flush it out and clean out the salt residue and then apply a new gasket and a good rtv silicone I perfer the red high temp not that you need a high temp but it seams to adhere better. The reason this happens is when in salt water & the motor doesn`t get flushed often the water jacket becomes corroded and seaps in the gasket area and corrodes around the plugs because that is the least resistance...<*))=} The good news it`s a cheap fix and your not on the water yet good luck,,,,, mark
