HELP I am at my wits end. My carbs were leaking fuel out the front so I did a carb rebuild along with a fuel pump kit. did the carb soak and the whole thing. still had problem with gas coming out of the carbs when running. motor is down in normal running position. replaced the needle and seats a second time with OEM parts, first time was with crap from china. put all back together and leaking out bottom carb before I even try to start. I traced the problem to the fuel pump line that goes to the intake. when it was running the first time after the carb rebuild there was a lot of white smoke out the exhaust. to rich I assume. I took pump apart and I can see how the fuel run in to the intake. did I use the wrong kit or what. thanks, dan

wmh or wmv's? motor year? only way for fuel ta run out tha carbs is tha needle n seat or float to high....replace little gasket under tha seat? adjust float height? should not be anything goin' from pump to intake (reed plate). ya might be lookin' at tha vacuum line goin' to tha front half of tha block right below tha pump?

I have been looking at the diagrams on fuel pumps and the part no. I believe I used the wrong kit. what I used is a sierra 18-7818-1 and I should have used 18-7817.

Motor is a 1997 Mag III 150. So as a picture is worth a thousand words.

I believe we need the upper gasket set that blocks off fuel from running into the vaccum port. Its possible we ordered the wrong kit as BOTH state to fit 857005A1.

Its wrong kit as kit you ordered is for the 3 cylinder motor as the holes are used the oil injection...

Cross Ref #: 18-7817, 40290
Mfg Part #: 21-42990A10,857005A1

actual Merc part number....42990A10

are you usin' a diagram ta rebuild? there should not be any fuel in that hose.....tha carbs are or should be wmv-1's.. they are one of tha more "finicky" ones ta rebuild.. probably tha most of any merc carb.. jus sayin' ya might wanna revisit those things, especially tha bottom one.....if you get fuel from any of them by jus "pumpin' bulb" its blowin; by tha needle n seat.. you should be able ta make tha bulb "firm" and no leakage......jmo
