I have been looking for a 25 horse motor and this option came up for a fair price. It's an 80s Mariner 25, but it's a long shaft and I need a short shaft. Is a new lower unit needed to convert this motor to a short shaft, or is it just a matter of removing a spacer somewhere and putting in a shorter driveshaft or something of that nature? I'd rather not use a transom extension.
