Mariner 40 controls help

I have purchased what I believe to be a 1980 something Mariner 40 hp outboard it is made in Japan and I cannot locate any serial number on it it has a seven pin harness.

Can anyone help me determine what type of controls and wiring harness I need to find any help will be helpful as the people in this town don’t seem to know

I found a Yamaha 7pin 793 controller and it fired right up.

Now what is the red wire off the motor for?

im guessing charging?

its fused and has a male connector on it.

Runs perfect.
