Sorry guys. I need help. I just got a Mariner 40 Yamaha 40 Mercury 40 "made in Japan" over the weekend.

Serial # 40ELO 6E9 L 430697 1986??

I have another question motor looks great but a mouse had made a home in the cowl. Do these motors have replaceable plug wires or do I need the complete ignition coil???

Thanks.

also is there anyway for me to delete the oil injection and just run mixed gas?? any thoughts? pros? cons? to doing this?

Re: Mariner 40hp ID

Wires are not replaceable and that motor doesnt have oil injection onboard. It was only offered on those years as a boat mounted Autoblend unit which is junk. Disconnect it and mix fuel/oil 50:1

yeah with it came a 1 gallon aux. oil tank. so just dont hook that up and mix the gas like always?? I just dont like having to trust something to add the oil for me. It says "Oil Injected" on the side.

Re: Mariner 40hp ID

Your serial number shows it to be a 1988 MARINER SANSHIN NA 40 ELO, Model number 7040312NU.
