Hiya chaps, I've been working on my mariner 50 replaced the switch box about a month ago. Started and ran perfectly but still needed a new impeller housing.
last couple of days, replaced the impeller and housing, spark leads, plugs, fuel filter, pump diaphragm kit.
Went to start her and no spark!!! The wires from the bottom of the stator feel a little too wiggly and soft. Could they give in so quickly.
I'm just worried the new switch box might be hurt. I've tried disconnecting the kill switch from the switch box and no different. Any help greatly appreciated.

Re: Mariner 89 3cyl 50hp no spark

I thought I'd update on my problem. Trawled thru some old posts and found ohm levels i should check and went to work thinking the worst that it would be a failed stator.

I disconnected the kill switch again from the switchbox and the two yellow wires that come from the stator before taking readings and all seemed fine. I thought I'd turn the engine over and tick, boom, straight back to life.

I've now reconnected all the wires and she's working fine? Gremlins.. Anyone had anything like this? Going to test her on the water tomorrow.

If people concentrated on the more important things in life, there would be a shortage of fishing rods!

I would suspect some type of problem in the kill circuit as in most cases if a ign. part fails it just don't come back to life. I also have seen boxes that had the terminal over tightened fail and cause partial connections.
