my outboard starts as well as it ever did but I can't engage either forward or reverse gear. i have taken the cover off and the problem seems to be internal as the cables are all in good order. Also if i remove the bar that revs up the engine when forward or reverse is engaged, the gear will still not engage.<br /><br />Is this a common/simple problem or dooes anyone think its more serious.<br />ps Put away last fall - first time out last week - washed and laid up as suggested
