1989 Mariner, OC206545.
Friend of mine bought a boat with this engine on it, sight unseen. he brought it to me to see what I can do to fix all the patch jobs on the boat and motor.....
been tinkering on it for a year now.... Time to get this up and running...
Engine would run but not enough to plane the boat. 2500 RPM Max...
Rebuilt all 3 carbs, new plugs and fuel filter, Compression running at 130 on all 3 cylinders.
Replaced both throttle adjustment links, they were badly cracked. Found screws miss for the throttle adjustments on the engine. Aquired all adjustment screws, went to crank engine to adjust the linkage, there was no spark. Removed the Black and yellow wire of Switch Box, still no spark...
Engine has a red flywheel with 5 wire stator, 2 yellow, 1 red, 1 blue, 1 black
took ohm readings.
Yellow to Yellow RX10 - 1 ( needle did move)
Red to Blue RX1K = 325
Red to Black RX10 = 1000
Blue to Black RX10 = Nothing
Black to Ground RX10 = nothing
does this mean that the stator is no longer good?

Are you getting any voltage to the switch box from the stator while cranking the engine? That would be between the red and black, then the blue and black wires. No need to disconnect wires for test.
