Hi all, I’ve just transferred my old outboard onto my Dory and need a new controller and cables as the one I have a way too long. I can’t seem to find a controller that has 7 terminal harness that’s compatible. Either I find one that’s a straight fit or i find a different controller and will need to work out what each colour of wire is for and try matching them up or final option is to keep the original ignition and just replace with a basic controller that doesn’t have and ignition, choke and kill switch, although this would be nice to have, as my kill switch is faulty.

the outboard is a Mariner 675 60hp made in Japan so, Yamaha.

Any help would be much appreciated

What you need should not be hard to find. Get on a Mercury site and find the control for your exact motor. Match year and HP. Mariner and Mercury should be the same, except for paint. Then you can search for aftermarket controllers based on the OEM control part number. The key item is the kind of electrical plug. match that and it should all work.

Alternatively, you could use your old control and get new shorter cables.

Or you could use bullet connectors to hook up the new control. The wiring colors and functions should be pretty standard. You would need a wiring diagram and make a connection diagram.

Many thanks! I’ll have a look and see what I can find.
