Hello fellas,

Im new to boating and baught a outboard from a friend a couple of months back.

It's a mariner 30hp. Not sure of the year and don't have the serial to hand.

My questions are,

On the outboard to the left of the fuel input there is a black screw off cap that has some sort of connection underneath... what is it for?

Coming from the casing underneath there is a black and red wire? any idea what these are for? I thaught these may have been for stop switch but even if I bridge them together it doesnt make a difference. It may be worth pointing out that to stop the motor running I have to pull the choke.

Any help will be appreciated.

Re: Mariner help

Have I done something to offend somebody? I'm beginning to get a complex.

Why won't any body help?

Re: Mariner help

Well then gents thanks for all your help that had been offered. I've now got the advice off a more friendly forum where people talk to you and reply.

Im a newby to boating but i'm not easily put off by negativity, for this reason I will carry on reguardless of others lack of help towards outsiders. However, other people do get put off and in this instance may well of felt as though they wern't welcome here.
