Mariner Identification

I've just bought a boat with a Mariner outboard but I'm struggling to identify the engine. It's a two stroke, I'm guessing somewhere between 30 and 50hp, the Serial No. is either 06125254 or OG125254. The second digit is indistinct, the first digit looks like a zero and the rest of the numbers are clear.

Can anyone help with identification? I can add photos if that will help

Thanks

I tried uploading a pic of the serial number and outboard but received a message saying I'm not authorised, any suggestions, is there another way of adding pics?

Thanks for the replies they have been very helpful, as soon as I am allowed I will try and post some images.

As far as I can see it is not a Mercruiser MC1 stern drive so I'm leaning towards the 1995 MARINER 30 MLH/ALT. Unfortunately I've not been able to find an image of one to confirm. Can you tell me what the MLH/ALT signifies?

Sorry if the info provided confused you some, it was more meant as general info had it been a 6 vs G.

M = Manual ROPE START
L = LONG SHAFT (20")
H = TILLER HANDLE STEERING
/ALT....I don't really know on the ALT designation but it won't stand for Alternator.

The below info should help with better terminology of stern drive vs outboard, etc..

Thanks to Fun Times for all the info as you can see I'm a bit of a novice at this.

A couple of points on the MLH designation.

It does have a pull start but also an electric start, I guess this could have been added?

I'm not sure about the length of the shaft, can you tell from my pics?

It is not a tiller steer, could this also have been a modification?

It is a two stroke and looks very much like the one in the is advert,

https://www.smalloutboards.com/mar3098.htm

Except it doesn't have any indication of Hp rating on the cowl or engine and the decal is different

Thanks again for your help
