...a few questions for the experts out there?
I have an opportunity to pick up either a used Mariner 90hp or a 150 hp motor...both late 90's (1998 I think?)...not sure of the hours...probably between 300-400...but I don't know for sure.
The price on these would probably be something in the neighbourhood of about a $1000-ish
Are these motors any good? How do they compare with the others? What should I watch for? What are they like for spare parts? Are they still being made? Is it hard to get controls to fit these to an 18' boat?
Any feedback and info you could supply on this would be absolutely appreciated.
Many Thanks.

I just put an early 90's 200HP Ocean on my boat. The motor runs great, i like the availability of parts. Its a mercury so the controls and all of that stuff are plentiful.

Basically interchangable parts with a mercury. Pick the one that suits you best, check the compression.

I have an 89' Mariner 75hp 3 cyl- parts are all still available at Mercurypartsexpress.com. No major issues other than the typical ignition system issues. Very pleased with this motor, would buy another used Mariner if this one would ever die (which doesn't seem likely). Easy motors to work on as well.

Most Mariners are Mercury with grey paint. :)
