looked at a 17foot with a 150HP mariner on the back, engine "looks" in good shape, but i haven't seen it run yet, just got the first look today, does anyone know anything about these motors, are they reliable, sturdy, all that jazz, anyone have any websites or links, it would be used for everything, fishing in the salt, water skiing lakes, etc, thanks in advance everyone

Got one and I am happy. Starts, runs good, I trust it. Use mine on inland waters, do not know salt worthiness.

thanks myout, i'm not sure if i wanna stay with a 2 stroke though, was hoping for a 4-stroke, but if this is worth it, i might jump on it, the guy said the leg and head were redone 4 years ago and never a problem since, simple maintenance, proper mix

any other pieces of advice, thoughts, things to look for? thanks

Seems pricey to me if it is a salt water engine.

solittle, it's been used mostly in the fresh, local lakes in the area, it has been in the salt, but definitely not the majority of the time, i would be using it in the salt, but i'm very good with flushing it out immediately afterward, $4995 includes the 17 footer also, w/ trailer, just to clarify

I also would do a compression check, and ask to see paperwork on rebuild. Tim

good call mathis, the boat is a canaventure, 17 footer, no leaks, just some aesthetics, it's not the best looking boat, but it would do, that's for sure, already has a tow bar mounted, fold down seats, closed bow, seats 6
